This artwork “Lyrebird Library” is a visual representation of Sarah Redfern High Schools commitment to increase excellence in learning.
The artwork centres around the Lyrebird at the centre of the artwork and is an acknowledgment to the Dharawal People, on the country which the library is located. The lyrebird also represents the library a place of gathering and learning. Students gather (surrounding the lyrebird) here to further extend their learning and the information within the library plants the seeds of knowledge represented in the background circle of the lyrebird.
Surrounding the Lyrebird are people meeting at the library to share their knowledge and engage in conversations. Teachers are represented by the large dotted circles and students are the smaller dotted circles. Connecting both the teachers and students are the pathways of learning represented by the tracks.
The boomerangs represent local community returning to the library to meet, learn, share and connect. The dotted lines surround the centrepiece are ripples of learning provided by Sarah Redfern High School and the “Lyrebird Library”.
Client Testimonial
Rhonda is a former student of our school and her connection to Sarah Redfern High School is reflected in the design, she worked in partnership with the school to deliver a mural that exceeded our expectations. We could not be happier with Rhonda’s design and would recommend RS Creative Solutions to any school seeking to improve their spaces.
